Hmmm…. Those Flowers Seem Fishy

Hello my field daisies!

Shoes: Kenneth Cole Reaction

Glasses: Lookmatic Woody Frame is Tortoise

Necklace: Berkeley street vendor

Ring: origin sadly forgotten

Today I am going for a flowery summery look. I love this Lauren Conrad skirt so much, mostly because it is tan pleated on top and silky orange on bottom. There is also a layer underneath so I don’t have to worry about it being see through. Pleats remind me of when I was a little kid, folding a piece of paper one way and then the other to make a little fan. They were surprisingly good at keeping me cool.

This skirt’s thin polyester layers also work to keep me cool in these hot summer months. You can’t really tell by the picture, but the tan part is actually glittery, sort of as if someone sprinkled bronzer on it.

My mother had the great idea to put some of our backyard flowers in a fishbowl. Don’t worry. There aren’t any fish in there. Though I bet some little ones would enjoy exploring the maze of flower stems.

The flowers match my shoes and ring quite nicely. I don’t remember where I got my ring from, but it just so happens to be the same flowers as my shoes. Perhaps it was also made by Kenneth Cole…

Side note: I actually got to meet Kenneth Cole last fall. He gave a talk at Berkeley. I wrote an article about it here. The man is so punny and sincere at the same time. He is not only a witty designer, but also a passionate activist, using his platform to bring awareness to causes such as HIV/AIDS research, marriage equality, and gun safety.

My necklace was a steal from a kind street vendor lady. I was looking for presents for my friends back home and ended up buying myself the jewelry I got them. It’s pretty cheaply made. I mean the original chain broke off within weeks of buying it, and I had to find an old chain of mine to replace it. But the stone and wrapping is simple and elegant, and I’ve worn it with multiple outfits. This summer Berkeley is going to have weekly Sunday street fairs starting June 9th. I’m sure to find plenty more goodies 🙂

The scar you see on my hand is from me trying to race a guy in a swimming pool. I would have won too if I wasn’t in a bikini and had goggles and a cap… But I digress.

The only makeup I have on today is red lipstick. During the summer, foundation, powder or even BB cream can feel heavy and pore clogging.

If I had to choose one item of makeup, I think it would be lipstick. I know most girls would say mascara, but I tend to disagree. With lipstick, there are so many shades and types to choose from. Do you want long lasting or shiny? Matte or glossy? Dark or light? The possibilities are endless. Additionally certain shades go with certain outfits, and choosing the right one is a bit of a hobby of mine. I currently have over 10 tubes… What can I say? Lipstick makes a statement. It brightens your face and is more essential than any extending, lash curling mascara.

That’s it for today!

As always, love ya’ll and thanks for reading!

Hope you have a daisyish day!
