Walk Into The Light
By Daisy Dai
Sitting with loss is sometimes
the hardest thing a person can do.
Losing a job, your lover, that house, our savings,
the reason you get up in the morning.
We tell ourselves: It was for the best. Everything happens for a reason.
Something better will come of it.
Leaving no room for grief, no pause, no breath, no thought.
We try to put loss behind us as if a bandaid could cover a gaping wound.
Sometimes we need to bleed out to be born anew.
When the bullet hits your stomach, there is nothing you can do,
but wait for your next chapter to begin as you walk into the light.
