Mystery

Mystery

By Daisy Dai

You said you knew nothing
about me,
that after three years of dating,
I was still a mystery.

I tried to play catch up,
telling you about the time I
threw a cup at my brother, and
he had to go to the hospital.

You said I’ve told you that
story before.

I try to begin another one,
and you say you don’t want
to hear my life story tonight.

We had just had a fight.

So we sit in silence, with me
holding my tongue thinking,

I am in love with a man who
doesn’t even know me,
who I know so well,
who never made me feel
comfortable enough
to open up.
