Hello my field daisies!
What are your biggest creative influences? Designers, art, pictures, films, music, books, places, cultural movements, publications you read, etc…
Since I was a little girl, Vogue has always been in my life. My mother loved the magazine and would always dog ear the pages of her favorite looks. So when the magazine came to me, I knew which styles stood out to her. I’ve always looked up to my mother’s taste. She still dresses with the times. Our shopping trips are some of my fondest memories.
I will never forget the day we went shopping, and I insisted on buying this crop top with flowers on it. She looked at it, and said no with maternal authority, a no that conveys “I know more than you because I’m older and wiser.” But I pushed back, pleading every sort of way even going so far as saying, “I don’t care. I’ll buy it with my own money.”
I thought she was going to be really mad. But instead she said, “I’m so proud my baby girl finally has her own style.”
Nowadays are shopping trips are full of these little arguments, but I don’t mind. In fact, they are the reason I love shopping with my mom. She will always give me her honest opinion. My mother taught me how to beat to my own drum, and because of that she is my biggest and most important influence. Because of her, I am in love with all things fashion and wish to pursue it any way I can. Taste is the beauty of fashion. There is no right or wrong answer. That’s what makes it so beautiful and addicting. Clothes are your canvas. They should be seen as a playground for your imagination.
I love fashion. I love what it says about certain eras. What is considered beautiful during a decade defines that era.
A wise woman once told me not be afraid to tell your superiors/manager your goals in a company. I’ve come to live by that mantra. My dream job would be editor-in-chief of Vogue. So Anna Wintour if you ever need an intern, I’ll be there in a heartbeat.
As my senior year approaches, I am starting to get anxiety about where I am going to be once I graduate. All I know is I want to do something in fashion. Or something in media. Or film. Or maybe even continuing my education and getting a PhD… AHHHH do you see what I mean? I really have no clue.
But I suppose that’s the beauty of life. You just never know.
Love ya’ll and thanks for reading!
Hope you have a daisyish day!
