Make a Statement with Statement Necklaces

Hello my field daisies!

Looks like the latest fashion trend is taking a cue from olden day queens!  Statement necklaces are all the rage these days, and not going to lie I do feel a bit royal when I wear these array of droplets around my neck. And I didn’t even have to break the bank to do so! I bought my turquoise piece from Forever 21 for only 12 dollars! Who says stylish has to be expensive? I find precious gems overrated anyway.

Statement necklaces can act like a summertime scarf, turning plain dresses and t-shirts into a fashion statement. But be careful not to wear too much jewelry. These necklaces are best worn solo or with slender, smaller pieces, such as a gold band or diamond studs. I am really bad about dressing up my outfit too much, and I end up looking like a little girl who decided to play dress up with her mother’s jewelry box. A good rule of thumb is to always take off one piece of jewelry before leaving the house.

My dress is also from Forever 21. It’s a comfy grey little number, and I wear it often. Half of the back is grey lace, which makes this dress subtly elegant. It’s sewn like a skater dress, with the top tight fitting and flared out at the waist. My mom was the one that actually picked out this dress, so I have her to thank for finding it! She bought it in a size large, and at first I was apprehensive to the oversizeness. But after a few cycles through the dryer, it shrunk to fit me perfectly. Bigger is always better because shrinking the fabric is easier than stretching the fabric.

The shoes are from Qupid, and my goodness have they been useful! I bought them thinking I was just going to wear them once and return them. I know such a crime, but hey when you’re a broke college student you gotta make do with you what you can! I ended up keeping them, mostly because I scuffed the bottoms too much for a full refund. I am really glad I ended up not returning them. They are not too high for interviews, but high enough for a night out on the town. The little straps also keep these suckers secured on my feet and make these heels surprisingly easy to walk in. Every girl should have a pair of black heels. They always come in handy.

That’s it for today!

Many thanks to Patrick Huang for taking these photos!

Love ya’ll and thanks for reading!

Hope you have a daisyish day!
