Have You

Have You

By Daisy Dai

Have you ever felt so other
It made you sick to be in your skin
Where suddenly you’re aware of
The shape of your eyes
The texture of your hair
The color of your flesh
Ripped open and grilled by
All those who wish you gone
Who enjoy the smell of tormented flesh
Who smile at the idea of your suffering
Who relish in the opportunity of making
Another feel other
Feeling like your very soul shouldn’t be
Allowed to exist
Feeling like all of a sudden you might
Develop a serious sickness
The lump in your throat the cancer
They created the anger in your heart
At their desire for sameness
The numbing realization they will
Never be open to
Anything new
Anything exciting
Anything real
