funfetti cake

what a beautiful summer it was,
my first summer in New York with
you on my tongue, and the
sun shining so sweetly in the sky,
like a giant funfetti cake,
rainbow sprinkles showered down, and
sugar icing clouded the air.

but you can’t have your cake and eat it too.
you loved me, but you wanted her too.
