Hello my field daisies!
Ed Sheeran reveals another song off his new album, x, and his falsetto hook is stuck in my head:
All my senses come to life
While I’m stumbling home as drunk as I
Have ever been and I’ll never leave again
Cause you are the only one
And all my friends have gone to find
Another place to let their hearts collide
Just promise me, you’ll always be a friend
Cause you are the only one
It’s interesting that Ed decided not to reveal the audio of the song. Instead he plays the acoustic version live in an empty stadium (the same one as the ‘Sing’ trailer), and makes a bit of a black and white music video. The stills from this video are just breathtaking.
It’s especially interesting to see the stills from the corridors and wings of the stadium because the song becomes muffled as if you were actually strolling through these areas. The song sounds even better in these parts, and the echo reverberation makes Ed’s voice sound ever more so hauntingly beautiful .
His marketing strategy is different than any other artist, very simplistic, and in its simplicity, memorable. ‘x’ (pronounced multiply) is just his first album, +, rotated 90 degrees. +’s theme was orange. x’s theme is green.
The track list is full of one word titles. Sing, Don’t and One aren’t really particularly crafty one word titles either, extremely hard to stick out in a Google search. But maybe Ed is trying to make these common household words his own, and with his talent I am sure he can. From what I’ve heard so far, his album definitely sounds like his first album multiplied. He has funky new sounding tunes such as Sing and Don’t, but he also goes back to his soft love ballad roots with things such as One. June 23rd cannot get here fast enough and I am excited to see what other clever things Ed will do to promote his upcoming album.
That’s it for today! I promise I’ll write about other things besides Ed; I know I’ve been writing about him a lot lately.
Love ya’ll and thanks for reading!
Hope you have a daisyish day!
