Cinderella

it’s midnight, and i’m 
tired of waiting for 
life to begin.

i see prince charming 
racing down, trying to
catch me as I 
run away,

but i am afraid
he’ll hurt me.

so i run fast
enough to where
he can’t catch me,

hoping my glass slippers
don’t break and wishing 
for something more
