Volcano
By Daisy Dai
I remember the day I finally let you go
When I finally had enough
When I couldn’t take it any longer
Breakups are never on a whim
The moment bubbles and builds slowly
Like an inactive volcano simmering
There is only so much unhappiness
A person can stand and
I walked into our apartment
You walked up to greet me with
A clean shaven face smiling
Something I hadn’t seen in a while
My face was streaked in black
Makeup running down and
You knew as I walked in
Things would never be the same
How did you not know
It hadn’t felt the same
For a while now
