the litte mouse
By Daisy Dai
“i feel so small” said the little mouse to his mother.
“why do you say that” she replied.
“because the people,” he sniffed,
“with their clunky feet. they could squash us in one step.”
she laughed and nuzzled him close, wrapping her tail around his sad body.
“they feel small too you know” she said with a wry smile.
the little mouse stopped his sniffling.
“they do?” he said hesitantly.
“of course they do. they feel smaller than us mice.” she said calmly.
“no way.” he said in a huff,
who makes them feel small?”
“themselves.” she shrugged,
“because they will never measure up
to the person they believe they could be”
