of coffee and contemplation
By Daisy Dai
For a city that never sleeps
it sure is quiet at 6 am
You would not think a place so
lively would have quiet moments of solitude
—of coffee and contemplation—
You do
From the moment your smile
met mine, I knew you
would steal my heart
Sitting in that bar, the chatter
of strangers creating a safe
haven for us to share secrets
having a moment of shared realization:
Oh could this be something?
I will never really know
precisely how I managed to be so damn wooed
—so captivated by your charm—
the way you talked
the way you thought
the way you took
the time to truly
know me
