Magic Trick
By Daisy Dai
My love for you defied reality.
Only a fool would believe a magic trick
after it was explained.
Or maybe, just maybe,
the fool wanted the magic to be real so badly,
she was willing to look past the sleight of hand.
Desperately hoping he knew her card only by
the electricity of her eyes meeting his,
trusting wholeheartedly their love was enchanted.
Deep down she knew it was just a mathematical shuffle,
and any card would have been correct,
as long as he cut it right.
