Hello my field daisies!
Okay so today is going to another music post. I can’t help it; this girl needs to be talked about.
Introducing Ariana Grande. She is this cute 20 year old girl that just released her debut album called Yours Truly last year. I’ve come to know this album backwards and forward, so I decided it’s about time I write about her.
Ariana’s style is being labeled as the next Mariah Carey. I know that is such a huge compliment, but I like Ariana better than Mariah.
And the crowd goes *Gasp*
Haha now don’t get me wrong, Mariah Carey is a legend, but I find myself listening to Yours Truly over and over again. I just don’t seem to do that with Mariah’s albums.
Ariana is what I like to call a ‘renaissance star.’ She dabbles in a little bit of everything, starting off on Broadway, then getting her own Nickelodeon show, and now releasing music. The only actress that I can think of to successfully pull off transitioning from TV to music is Taylor Momsen and her band Pretty Reckless. You might know her as Jenny Humphrey from Gossip Girl. But comparing her to Ariana is like comparing apples to oranges just because they are fruit. Their music styles are totally different and they go for totally different images.
But I do love Taylor’s come-at-me, edgy, punk style. Maybe I’ll have to do a review on her next.
Anyway back to Ariana!
Just look at her singing with Big Time Rush’s Nathan Sykes! Start at 1:23.
They really do look like they could be on top of a wedding cake >.<
And of course, like Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield dating after Spiderman, Nathan and Ariana say screw not mixing business with pleasure” and are happily together.
*Just to clarify, they weren’t together when this video was released.
The thing I like about Ariana is that she isn’t dirty. She has this cute innocent quality about her. Maybe when I think of her, I think of Cat, the spacey girl who has red hair because she loves red velvet cupcakes. Of course Ariana just plays her on Nickelodeon, but still she has that sweet essence. She doesn’t feel the need to be sexy and provocative.
Ariana brings back the image that girls can be classy. This notion is so desperately needed in a world where girls gone wild is such a norm. She’s taking it all the way back to 1954! (Tattooed Heart reference)

The reason why I decided to write about Ariana is because I got my February issue of Teen Vogue (Yes I still subscribe to Teen Vogue. Come at me.) and look who is grazing the cover!
The article talks about “the way she flirts with sexuality” something I never thought about until I read the article. Think of her song “The Way” and Mac Miller rapping “You a princess to the public but a freak when it’s time”
That got me thinking about some of her other lyrics, and they are some slightly wild and sexy ones, such as in her song with Big Sean, “Right There.”
In the background, there’s Big Sean going “If you wanna party throw your hands up” and Ariana going “You got it, you got it babe.” There are also such lyrics as “You know I have some girls missionary.” and “You know what I need. I know what you like.” Infer what you want from that.
Ariana is calculating her image wisely, and I predict that her next album will toy more with her fun and sensual side. Hopefully (fingers crossed) she’ll do something else with her hair. The half up half down thing is unique and iconic, sort of like Elvis Presley and his pompadour hairdo, but I personally don’t like it.

I like her hair down like she did it at the 2013 Jingle Ball.
Here are just some fun videos of Ariana, such as her singing rap songs in her awesome old timey voice on Jimmy Fallon.
And her putting make up on Alfie from Pointless Blog 😀
I am so elated that she is back in the studio recording! 🙂
Your hard work will definitely pay off Ariana! Take it from Lorde and just keep thinking “Hard work and no play, never made me lose it.”
That’s it for today!
Love ya’ll and thanks for reading!
Hope you
