Goodbye Summer

Hello my field daises!

With the last days of summer upon us, it’s nice to sit back and reflect on it all. I am a warm weather person. I love being able to wear sandals, summer dresses and shorts. Alabama summer is a bit sweltering and humid, but here in Northern Cali, the summer is perfect. Slight breeze, and chilly enough so you aren’t breaking out into a sweat.  Here in Berkeley it does have its random bursts of odd weather patterns, but I would take Cali weather over Bama weather any day.

I love the way the sun feels, enveloping you in a cloud of warmth. In the outfit above, I’m wearing a black and white ensemble, with a white crop top and a daisy covered black skater skirt. I love that there is a daisy trend occurring right now. I don’t know if daises are necessarily my favorite flower, but they are my name sake. Amazing how much a name follows you throughout your life. If I was named Blue Ivy, I probably would have an affiliation and infatuation with the color blue. And maybe poison ivy too who knows? Anyway seeing daises reprinted on shirts and dresses and even shoes makes me glow on the inside. This is the only daisy item I own right now. I feel sort of childish and slightly conceited when buying things with daises on them. But this skirt was too cute to say no.

Lately I have been obsessed with the hologram trend. I got my sandals from Forever 21 on sale for I believe $14 bucks. They may look just silver, but in the sunlight these gladiator sandals have rainbow shimmer . They turn every outfit I wear into a high fashion A+. And for the price, they are decently comfortable. The bottoms are a little thin, but I’ve easily walked a miles in them. They have thick straps so they are very secure on my feet, fitting like a glove. Because they have proper ankle support, my sandals follow my steps as I walk. I don’t think this trend will become a classic, but it’s nice to ride in fast fashion lane every once in a while.

Goodbye summer! Yes there will be a few more warm days, but I wanted to say my good byes a little early. The change from summer to fall is a gradual one. The days slowly become shorter a minute a day. The trees slowly begin to take fall colors one leaf at a time. The changing of seasons is a bashful affair. If you don’t start noticing the differences now, you might wake up one morning and suddenly find yourself in the whirlwinds of autumn.
